Winter Climbing Improvers Couse in Scotland provides a unique environment for winter mountaineering. The rapidly changing conditions and weather provide challenges all of its own and provide unique routes and an overall experience quite different from elsewhere in the world. Add to this a strong mountaineering tradition and history and that unbeatable satisfaction when everything combines to give those days of Highland winter perfection - all on our doorstep.

Course Summary

The Winter Climbing Improvers course is designed to build on the skills of the Intro to Winter Climbing course and to develop your skills and experience to move onto the next level in Scottish winter climbing.

Course Content

This is aimed at those who have some previous rock climbing or winter climbing experience and who are confident in basic ropework. After brushing up on the essential skills we will move onto more challenging terrain. The aim is to give you the confidence in belaying, protection and evaluating the environment to venture onto these routes under your own steam. This week will be spent on grade 111 - V terrain.

Experience / Fitness / Ability

This a Winter Climbing Improvers Course in Scotland for clients who want to progress from Winter Mountaineering and easier winter routes to more technical Winter Climbs, grade 111 - V. Previous summer rock climbing experience or easier winter routes would be advantageous, the course will be tailored to your experience.

Course Location

The Winter Climbing Improvers Course can be based either on the West Coast – Glencoe, Ben Nevis or over on the East in the Cairngorms. It will depends on the weather and snow conditions and the venue will be chosen to maximise your experience and make use of current conditions: we will tend to go where the conditions are better.

Winter Climbing Improvers

Cost: £180 per day + £20 per additional person.

Ratio: 1:3 maximum.

Number of days: A two to 5 day course priced per day as above.

Included: All Guides fees.

Not included: Transport to and from the course venue, lunches, accommodation, insurance, equipment hire.
