Course Content

We will show you how to place and access your own natural protection. This would normally include lead coaching - looking at placing natural protection and assessing it's quality and setting up anchors. Various climbing techniques will be looked at or introduced and we can also set up leader falls in a controlled situation if you are comfortable with this.

When clients are leading on the Lead Climbing Course the situation is very closely supervised, usually from the safety of a rope alongside the lead climber, this means that advice and tips on placing protection and rope techniques can be given. This aids confidence building and also means we can easily step in to assist if necessary.

Experience / Fitness / Ability

The Lead Climbing course is for people who have done some seconding and are competent at belaying other climbers and now want to progress to leading routes themselves.

Course Location

The Lead Climbing course is based here in North Wales in Snowdonia which provides numerous excellent locations both single and multi-pitch, ranging from sea cliffs to mountain crags in superb locations on a wide variety of rock types. The variety of locations also allows scope for working round inclement weather and the emphasis will be on what you would like to do trying to accommodate any particular crag you would like to visit.
