Course Summary

The highest mountain in Western Europe at 4808m is a fantastic journey through high Alpine glacial terrain offering superb views. The ascent of Mont Blanc is a 6 day instructional/guided course.

Course Content

The first half of the week for an ascent of Mont Blanc is spent learning alpine rope work and the use of crampons and ice axe or for those with some experience refreshing these techniques.More importantly this is also useful alpine acclimatisation and spending 2 nights in high mountain huts helps to achieve this.

Experience / Fitness / Ability

An ascent of Mont Blanc is within the capabilities of most experienced hill walkers given normal conditions on the mountain.  A reasonable level of fitness and stamina is also essential as the summit day on Mont Blanc is a long day.

Course Location 

The base for the Mont Blanc course is in Chamonix but there are other venues that can be used during the first half of the week for training and acclimatisation such as the Grand Paradiso in Italy and the Saas valley in Switzerland. There are 2 main routes for the ascent of Mont Blanc: Cosmiques Route or 3Ms & Gouter Ridge.

Cost: £1450 per person.

Ratio: 1:4 for the first 3 days and then 1:2 for the ascent of Mont Blanc.

Number of days: 6 days. Sun - Fri inclusive.

Included: All Guides fees, 7 nights accommodation either in mountain huts on half board or a hotel in the valley on a B & B basis.

Not included: Transport to and from the course venue, uplift, evening meals in the valley, lunches, insurance, equipment hire.
